New Year’s Resolutions for You and Fido

New Year’s Resolutions for You and Fido

Happy New Year! Your dog may not know it’s the start of a new calendar year, but he will be right there with you as you set new goals for 2016. Why not include him in your resolutions? Below, a local Sayville, NY vet lists some wonderful resolutions that can apply to both you and Fido.

Play

Keeping a balance between work and play is very important, and Fido is more than willing to lend a helping paw. Playing with your canine companion is not only great for him, it’s also good for you. Take time each day to play with your furry buddy, even if it’s just a quick game of fetch. Have fun!

Explore

Are your dog’s walks and activities becoming routine? Shake things up a bit this year! Take Fido to a doggy park, or explore some new hiking trails. Or, take your canine friend on a pet-friendly weekend getaway.

Health Care

This one probably wouldn’t make Fido’s list of resolutions, but proper veterinary care is very important to his health! Bring your pooch to the vet at least once this year for wellness care. In between visits, keep up on parasite control, and watch for any signs of illness. If you notice anything unusual about your pup’s appearance or behavior, contact your vet immediately. Take care of your health!

Learn New Things

All dogs should know basic obedience commands like Sit, Stay, Heel, Come, and Lay Down. However, Fido’s education doesn’t have to stop when he has these mastered. Teach your pet some cute tricks, or move on to advanced training. You can also learn something new this year: try a different hobby, or take some classes.

Be Loyal

Man’s Best Friend has an absolutely amazing capacity for love and loyalty. Our canine pals stay with us through good times and bad, offering unwavering support, cuddles, and doggy kisses. Be there for your loved ones in times of need.

Live Life To The Fullest

Fido can be the very picture of joy and happiness when he’s bouncing around after a ball or playing fetch. Belly rubs, snacks, and ear scratches can all make dogs blissfully happy. Enjoy life!

All of us here at your Sayville, NY vet clinic want to wish you a wonderful new year. We look forward to serving all your dog’s veterinary care needs in 2016.
